The capital of Michigan blew me away with it's growing neighborhoods and delicious places to eat and drink. But more than that, Lansing blew me away with it's pride. Hiking to Potato Harbor and Snorkeling in the Channel Islands - Santa Cruz Island

When I think of California National Parks, I tend to think of Yosemite, or Sequoia, or the Redwoods. I never even knew that there was a park so close to Los Angeles, and so completely different than any other national park I've ever been to. Channel Islands National Park is located just off the coast of Ventura, about 90 minutes away from Los Angeles. The park consists of 5 islands and their surrounding waters. Between the land adventures and the sea, this is one amazing and unique park.

A Moment of Gratitude

Moments like these are sometimes hard to find. Those beautiful perfect moments where you are so present and grateful to be right there, right then, that before you know it tears are brimming at your eyelids. And it's even more incredible when those moments come unexpectedly. Sometimes I find myself expecting those awestruck times to come staring at a sunrise or a mountain, and those do occur, but when it's an ordinary day and you're suddenly so paralyzed with gratitude, it's beautiful.

Why YouTube Scares Me

I've been creating and hosting Monica Goes for over two years now and I have a confession...YouTube scares me. This entire social media, blogging, and vlogging world scares me! I feel a bit old and late to the game. When I started, I had to google "how to use twitter". All I ever wanted to do was host and inspire people to go on adventures! SEO's, MCN's, CPM's...all I knew was I wanted to be a CEO of my own brand, the rest of those three letter terms are gibberish to me. It's been one serious learning curve!

Costa Rica Travel Guide - What To Do, Where To Stay, How to Experience Pura Vida

The first thing I learned in Costa Rica is “Pura Vida” which means pure life and that became the theme of our trip. From our driver picking us up at the airport and telling us all about the culture and people of Costa Rica, to exploring the countryside on our way to the resort, I did my best to sit back and take it all in. We showed up at The Springs Resort and Spa and between the stunning view of Arenal Volcano, the luxurious accommodations, and the swim up bar I knew this was the perfect place for me to be at this time in my life.

National parks were not super on my radar yet. My dad and I planned a long road trip for the move to California and THAT’S where I started to get it. We stopped in Moab and took pictures at Arches National Park, we took back roads to drive through part of Rocky Mountain National Park, we stopped at the Grand Canyon to take in all of the wonder and man did it spark something in me!

To Connect or Not to Connect - That is the Question...

When I travel I want to relax and live completely in the moment...and yet I work, I hustle, and I try to stay on top of everything connected with the show. I tell myself I'll relax and embrace the moments when I'm without wifi, and yet on the inside I'm panicking and wondering what amazingness I'm missing online. So here is my question for ya'll. How do we learn to live in the moments in front of us when there's a glowing screen to look at and emails that must be answered?
