Hanging Bridges, Horseback Riding, and Zorbing in Arenal Costa Rica

When people think of Costa Rica they think of adventure. So what better place to go and do as much as possible than Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. It's a one-stop shop for adventure!

Arenal Hanging Bridges Mistico Park

To kick things off, I started with the hanging bridges. The iconic Costa Rican view that you always see in pictures. What was a pleasant surprise was the beautiful gardens and gorgeous hiking trails between the bridges. Mistico Park has 16 bridges, 10 fixed and 6 hanging. They ease you into the whole experience and extreme heights with some easy fixed bridges...and then I reached the first hanging bridge.

At almost 150 feet tall and 250 feet long this bridge was throwing me in the deep end! I started out ok but as you go further toward the middle, the bridge creaks and sways and it's terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. On a clear day, you can see Arenal Volcano from this bridge. We watched the family ahead of us turn around because the kids were scared so be warned if you're afraid of heights or have kids who are.As we continued on to the next bridges, while it was still scary, I got more comfortable crossing them. There was even a waterfall bridge which adds to the jungle's beauty.

After the bridges, it was time to try zorbing. What is zorbing you may ask? Getting into a giant inflatable ball with 70 liters of water and rolling down a steep hill! Mistico Park is the only place that offers this unique adventure in Costa Rica. So after some brief instruction to not open our mouths or eyes and to be careful not to punch one another we were off! And holy cow is that one action-packed minute! The track is built to flatten out at some points and drop off at others so being inside the ball you have no idea what’s next. That is definitely a crazy unique experience.

So now that we were soaked, stoked, and feeling high on life it was time for adventure #3 of the day, horseback riding. Now I love riding and have been many times but riding through the rainforest in the rain with views of Arenal Lake and Volcano; that is an experience unlike any other! And it was a good thing we had out trusty guides and awesome horses because when it started to downpour and the trails turned to mud, it made the experience even more adventurous.

There are few places in the world with so much adventure packed into one naturally beautiful place. And if you're anything like me, when you travel you want to see and do as much as possible. Mistico Park helped me do just that and create memories to last a lifetime. Check out the entire episode below!
